‘Hateful murder’ of a mother and her children ‘is sickening and cruel’

Sky News host Chris Kenny says a mother, and her three children, were tragically “murdered in the most heinous and unspeakably cruel way” by their father in the Brisbane Suburb of Camp Hill on Wednesday.
Hannah Baxter, 31, was taken to hospital suffering fatal burns after a car containing her three children, who were all aged under 10, was set alight by her estranged husband.
It is widely understood the couple where involved in a custody dispute, while the adult male who died, Rowan Baxter, was a former New Zealand Warriors NRL player in 2005.
“It makes us sick with grief and rage that a father could do this,” Mr Kenny said.
“That he could be so selfish, so hateful, so cruel and so completely self-obsessed that he could make people suffer so much, and deny life, deny a future to his own children, and their mother."
Mr Kenny said he didn’t care what religion one may be, or whether they are a devoted father or a “reluctant dad,” once you have a child “there’s a special purpose in your life, a duty, a gift and responsibility, to care for your children, to protect and nurture them”.
“To do the opposite is an obscenity beyond compare”.
Mr Kenny also called for harsher criminal sentences for those convicted of domestic abuse.
