While I've labeled this playlist 'soul funk'—admittedly, with the YouTube algorithm in mind—it's perhaps more accurate to describe these as soul tracks that have shed some of funk's characteristic rhythmic drive. My goal was to create a truly laid-back listening experience, the kind of music you can sink deep into a sofa with. Although I am pleased with the quality of the songs themselves, I must admit that I didn't quite reach my intended destination.
