The Scotland Yard name was one which filled criminals with fear! In this episode we take a look at the background and a range of their many cases.

Case 1 Bad Daniel Good – 1842 00:05:57:17
A mangled disinterred corpse is found. The body was so brutally butchered it took some time to understand that it was the corpse of a woman.

Case 2 The Bermondsey Horror – 1849 00:39:17:05
This infamous case helped to establish Scotland Yard as a force to be reckoned with. Once again, the crime itself was exceptionally brutal

Case 3 The Park Lane Murder – 1872 00:45:12:07
A Belgian cook, who transforms when she drinks, and an exacting mistress all in one of the finest addresses in London. This case, with its cross channel flight from justice, admirably displayed Scotland Yard perseverance.

Case 4 The Mysterious Disappearance of Mr Stanger 01:17:46:18
The Stangers, immigrants from Germany, set up a successful bakery in the heart of Whitechapel. They are soon joined by a friend of the family who is quite friendly with Mrs Stanger. Mr Stanger utterly vanished not long after…A difficult case for Scotland yard which involved piecing together the smallest of clues.

Case 5 Fingerpints! 01:52:05:00
The use and legal acceptance of fingerprint evidence was a huge breakthrough in the capture of criminals. We review the first case where this evidence was used to capture their man and successfully convict him.

Case 6 Sinister Sidney Fox 01:57:21:17
A mother and son scam team comes to an end when the mother is found dead – supposedly by a fire in her hotel room. This complicated case, involving real investigative efforts to trace the history of the two, was a huge success for Scotland yard. A really interesting case.

The last Sunday of each month is a 2 hour compilation of stories based around a theme such as "Firsts in Murder" and "Doctors of Death"
