WHAT IS A LINE:
5 Notes on Line:
1. Quality of Line is better than Quantity of Line
2. You’ll never truly go deep enough into a subject until you begin to make clean structured lines.
3. having good lines is the core of understanding any of the other fundamentals.
4. Once you understand all the fundamentals and your work is good, you can decide to stop using the RULES and still make great work. Once you understand lines, then you can stop using lines.
5. Lines can be horizontal, vertical, diagonal, straight, curved or freeform.
6. Line weight refers to the thick or thin, dark or Light, sometimes one line can be all those things.
Physical Drawing Techniques to help with Better Lines.
1. Use a good brush (digital) or pencil (traditional):
2. Only professionals can say the brush doesn’t really matter.
3. Draw from the shoulder not your wrist: Drawing with your
shoulder gives you a wider range of movement and makes it
easier to draw confident and consistent flowing lines.
4. Draw with your elbow for smaller lines and marks
5. Use your wrist only on very small/tiny details
