A tense exchange erupted during a House Homeland Security oversight hearing when U.S. Rep. Timothy M. Kennedy confronted ICE acting director Todd Lyons, demanding accountability tied to Minnesota’s enforcement fallout.
Kennedy criticized Lyons’ testimony for not naming Renée Nicole Good or Alex Pretti and repeatedly pressed him with yes/no questions on due process, protest rights, independent investigations, and court orders. Kennedy cited a federal judge’s finding that ICE was in violation of 96 orders in one month in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and argued the administration has shown “disregard for the law and the Constitution.”
Kennedy also demanded a commitment to “immediately unmasking every agent” conducting immigration enforcement and requiring standard uniforms and identifiable badges. Lyons responded “no” to that commitment. Kennedy continued to press, including about whether DHS Secretary Kristi Noem should resign; Lyons said he would not comment and referenced ongoing investigations.
