This is my instructional keyboard cover of Cheap Trick's "Dream Police", which I am posting under the "fair use" doctrine.
Unfortunately, it's only me playing keyboard along to a drum track, so if you are not familiar with the entire song or the song structure, it will appear to be very monotonous. But, if you know the song, feel free to hum the guitar part and melody, so that you know where you are in the song. :-)
The entire song is played on my Roland Fantom X7. I am using the black Roland JV-90 (which is connected to the X7 by MIDI cable) to control (i.e. "play") the X7 during the parts with the strings.
I used a delay effect (which is built into the X7) on the right hand synth part. This way, I only have to play one note, instead of two. When the track was originally cut in the 70s, I don't know if the synth part was sequenced or if there was delay added. As you can tell, the part is very tedious as it is, so I can't imagine someone playing two of each note. But, who knows...LOL
The organ part is pretty straightforward, although I've seen it played with "richer" chords (i.e. more notes). The organ patch that I'm using has a lot of harmonics, so I think that makes up for the lack of notes I'm playing.
The string part is a lot of fun to play, especially the "trilly" ditty. It takes a bit of concentration to get it right. I might have been able to have played it with one hand, but I don't think I could have gotten as accurate an articulation as using two hands.
The string part in the bridge is also a lot of fun. It took me a lot of rewinding to learn each
