Mondulkiri is one of the last wild and hilly regions of Cambodia — but its forests are disappearing fast.
Over the past 25 years, large-scale logging has dramatically transformed this land, putting immense pressure on local ecosystems and on the elephants that once roamed freely here.
Today, only three elephants remain alive in this protected area:
one elderly female, over 80 years old, and two males, each around 45 years old.
They are living witnesses of a forest that has nearly vanished.
In this documentary, we travel to eastern Cambodia, near the Vietnamese border, to spend two days with the Mondulkiri Project, a conservation NGO working to protect these last elephants and preserve a small but vital section of forest through land leasing and ethical eco-tourism.

This experience took place between Christmas and New Year 2025, and by participating in the trek, we directly supported elephant care, forest protection, and local livelihoods.
