Hydrofoils have been used on boats as early as 1898, the US Navy has some and ferry services relied on those fast boats for centuries. The first time I saw foil surfing was the movie "Step into Liquid" where Laird Hamilton and his friends explain how they developed the foil surfboard out of a thing called "Air Chair".
In recent years, a hydrofoil revolution took place in sailing and meanwhile, Kay Lenny started to surf open ocean swells on a foil board. It was more than time to try it, so we teamed up with http://www.ceccotorenas.ch/ to ride it behind a wakeboard boat on Lake Zurich.
