In this video I show how to replace the rear brake pads and rotors on a 2022 Subaru Legacy equipped with an electronic parking brake (EPB).
Most tutorials tell you to:
• Use a scan tool to enter service mode
• Apply 12V power to the EPB motor
• Disconnect fragile electrical connectors
I didn’t do any of that.
Instead, I removed the EPB motor from the caliper (without unplugging it) and manually rewound the piston using an E12 reverse Torx socket.
This method:
✔ Eliminates the need for a scan tool
✔ Avoids triggering warning lights
✔ Reduces risk of damaging connectors
✔ Keeps the electronics untouched
