Universities are a key player in our knowledge ecosystem. They play a central role in educating and developing the talent that companies employ and train, and the innovations that drive our competitive advantages. The COVID-19 event has been a major disruptor to the university business model. It has not just forced universities to rapidly shift to online teaching delivery, it has called into question deeply held assumptions about the university’s business model. As for many businesses, this disruption has been in large measure, digital.

We are already beginning to see winners and losers from this disruption. There are many lessons to be learned from how universities are managing this disruption and transition, both for other knowledge businesses, corporate learning functions, and other industries at large.
