Sie zeigen, wie die Schweiz Demokratie als Grundpfeiler ihrer Aussenpolitik versteht – und wie sie sich in internationalen Organisationen und Netzwerken wie dem International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) für demokratische Werte und Prozesse engagiert. Strengthening democracy – Switzerland's place in international dialogue

Democracies around the world are under pressure. Authoritarian tendencies are on the rise, social polarisation is growing, and trust in institutions is dwindling – even in established democracies. But at the same time, new forms of political participation, transparency, and cooperation between the state and society are emerging in many places. How can we promote these positive developments? What is needed to strengthen and further develop democracy worldwide? What contribution Switzerland can play here, and what can we learn from other countries?

Ambassador Tim Enderlin, the head of the Peace and Human Rights Division of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), will present the FDFA's Guidelines on Democracy 2025–28. They show how Switzerland sees democracy as a cornerstone of its foreign policy and how it works to promote democratic values and processes in international organisations and networks such as the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA). The presentation will be followed by a discussion with Mr Enderlin and:
