A Forever Recovery is a unique residential rehabilitation center located on beautiful and serene St. Mary’s Lake in Southwest Michigan. Our approach to treatment of substance abuse and addiction is different from the programs found at most other recovery centers. Instead of the single-track, “one treatment fits all” mentality that is used in more clinical rehabilitation facilities, the program offered at our recovery center is adapted to each individual that comes to us seeking help for their issues with drugs and alcohol. The program here offers an effective core treatment with several options available to our clients as supplemental courses. This multiple-modality approach creates a program that is truly focused on the individual and their distinctive personalities. By using this approach, the success of our clients in recovery is greatly increased.

Every year, AFR hosts a picnic for graduates of the program as well as those clients still working on their recovery at our facility. Some of the graduates take a few moments to share their story with the attendees, and offer some experienced words of encouragement. Recovery from drug abuse and alcoholism can be tough, and events like this one help those still struggling with addiction to see that there is hope for everyone.

As the current clients, graduates and staff mingle about the grounds, enjoying delicious food, carnival games and good company, a sense of peace and happiness can be seen on the faces of all of the attendees. A feeling of personal accomplishment and general well-being can be heard in the words and voices of the guest speakers. Testimony of the positive changes that our graduates have made in their lives showcase the power and effectiveness of the individualized program here at AFR.

At A Forever Recovery, we believe that true recovery from addiction starts when our clients gain a sense of personal empowerment and responsibility in their rehabilitation, a direct result of allowing them to exercise a certain amount of control over the supplemental options offered to the core treatment. This also helps to create a sense of confidence, in themselves and in their program, greatly increasing the chances of being successful in recovery. As our graduates express, in their words and on their faces, there is hope for anyone struggling with drug abuse or alcoholism. Life can be better. There is a way.
