Sometimes what psychologist want to know is pretty personal and the only way to know someone's covert behaviour is to ask questions in the form of interviews, on internet, telephone or questionnaires, the advantage of survey is that researchers get tremendous amount of information in short time from literary hundreds of people. And the disadvantage of survey is that sometimes they don't give you the exact answer it can be because of courtesy bias
