This California Zephyr #5 arrived in Fort Morgan at 0636 MST (56 min. late due to high winds and BNSF speed restrictions). Nick had P42s #159 & # 198 bring the 9-car (extra coach deadheading) train to a stop with car 7 (coach) to the platform ramp for service to 27 new passengers (including 2 babes in arms). There were no detraining passengers this morning. I also had a visit from Mr. Darrell while the passengers massed at the coach. I picked the right spot today, so he didn't have to step into the wind for too long. Thank you, Darrell! Yes. The coffee did hit the warm button as I sipped some in the cab of the blue beast.
With the passenger work safely completed, the high ball was given and on a clear signal at west Ft. Morgan CP, the Zephyr rolled west into the winds across the high plains on its way to Denver's Union Station.
My thanks to the operating crew for the greetings this morning.
Everyone please stay safe and warm!
