Lake Toba, Samosir Island Indonesia

Описание: Lake Toba is a large natural lake occupying the caldera of a super volcano. It's located in the northern part of Indonesia, Island of Sumatra. Samosir Island is an isaland within an island.
The lake is about 100 kilometers long, 30 kilometers wide and up to 505 metres (1,666 feet) deep.

There's a lot of things to do in this island such as cultural learning, souvenir, cycling, trekking, hiking, watersports( jet ski, snorkeling, banana boat, speed boat tour, swimming)

This is the largest volcanic lake in the world. Samosir Island rests in the center of the lake and provides the perfect escape from the madness and urban life of Medan, Indonesia's fourth - largest city.

The easiest way getting to Lake Toba is to fly to Medan's Kualanamu International Airport. From there you can travel by car to the town of Parapat. Parapat is located along the lake and will take few hours 4 to 6 hours by car from Medan. There are many tour companies that you can book your trip to Parapat, you can book anywhere in the city center of Medan.
In my case we needed to sleep in a hotel in the city of Medan because arrived late in the evening.
You can also travel by a private car it's the fastest way but quite expensive. If you're not in a hurry you can get there by a train, there's a train that connects the airport to Medan City.
When we arrived in the town of Parapat, we took the ferry to bring us to Samosir Island, the tourist destination. There are plenty of hotel and guest houses surrounded along the Island. It takes maybe 40 minutes from Parapat to Samosir Island, it depends on the location of your hotel. You can ask the ferry captain to drop you off to the jetty nearest to your hotel or guest house.
