The Pennines Walk
Today we walked in the Pennines and up what is according to some a Roman Road, others believe it to be an old pack horse route.
This is a heavy walk with a 1 in 4 gradient.
It hard work but worth it when you get to the rocks left there during the last Ice age.
In 1864 a meeting of supporters of Chartism from the surrounding industrial towns of Lancashire and Yorkshire was held there attracting up to 30,000 people. facts around military movement during the English Civil war when 800 Parliamentarian troops were posted there.
The Pennines, also known as the Pennine Chain or Pennine Hills, is a range of hills and mountains separating North West England from Yorkshire and North East England.
Remember exercise and the outdoors is good for promoting both physical and mental health which helps manage Anxiety, stress and depression.
