The Windrush generation are people who arrived in the UK from Caribbean countries between 1948 and 1971, when British immigration laws changed.
Although not all Windrush generation migrants arrived on the ship HMT Empire Windrush itself, the vessel became a symbol of the wider mass-migration movement.
Many of those who came to the UK had served in the British armed forces in World War Two.
They became manual workers, cleaners, drivers, and nurses in the newly established NHS.
In this video we celebrate the Windrush generation and their children and grandchildren who have also joined our Trust to deliver compassionate care to our patients.
The video is set against a backdrop of music written by Kyle Corbin which has been specially commissioned by the Trust to mark Windrush within the NHS.
