After catching a TexRail train at one of the other four crossings located adjacent to one another on 23rd St, I noticed a train approaching on the BNSF track and very quickly set up. Very quickly after, the same southbound coal train I had seen in Saginaw a couple hours prior came roaring through.
At the time, not much had changed with this crossing other than BNSF purging the classic Model 75 gate motor on the far gated mast. This would not be the case for long, though, as this crossing was slated for replacement as part of a double tracking project here. Not long after, everything here was replaced with an obnoxious new setup. The modernity reaper strikes again, though at least there was a half-good reason for it. Even still, railroads used to be better about relocating equipment when the number of tracks changed, but those days are by and large gone.
