Helicopter flight to the eruption site:
We flew with Nordurflug. Price for a 45 minutes flight to the eruption site: 350 Euro per person. We just called upfront and made our reservation for the same day over phone. Helicopter flights offered by travelagencies are mostly about 500 Euros - book direct over the helicopter company.

Parking for the Volcano Hike:
Meanwhile there are two trails to the Meradalir eruption site.
Trail 1 is the trail we did - the trailhead starts right at Parking 1 ( coordinates: 63.866265, -22.316776 // link to parking position on google maps: https://goo.gl/maps/RyGTzxSPZXLKPEt67 )
Trail 2 starts at parking 2 and was not accessible at our time of visiting (coordinates 63.859576, -22.280164 // link to parking position on google maps: https://goo.gl/maps/114RzFDNBRQujnrs9 )
Once at the parking the trail is obvious, you can't miss it.
Meanhwile it seems like the parking is not for free anymore like at our time for traveling.
