"Unlike it's sedentary relatives, the scarlet sea anemone (Stomphia didemon) has the remarkable ability to 'swim' if a predatory sea star gets too close. It's 'swimming' behavior is more like bouncing, though, as it bends back and forth and is moved along the bottom by water currents. Nonetheless, it is an elegant dance, particularly for an organism that resembles a flower more than an animal."

Stomphia didemon (Swimming anemone) displays its attack and escape response to the predatory sea star Dermasterias imbicata (Leather star).
This Stomphia spent over six minutes stinging/attacking the Dermasterias before it committed to its exhaustive escape swim.
