Agent Orange is a highly toxic herbicide and defoliant used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War to eliminate forest cover and crops that provided enemy cover and food supply. The chemical was later found to contain dioxin, a carcinogen linked to serious health risks such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, reproductive problems, and other illnesses.
Veterans who were exposed to Agent Orange during their service in Vietnam may be eligible for disability compensation from the US Department of Veterans Affairs. The VA recognizes a number of conditions related to Agent Orange exposure, including certain cancers, respiratory disorders, reproductive problems, peripheral neuropathy, Type 2 diabetes and more.
