Islamabad Sealed: 1,500+ Containers Block Red Zone Ahead of PTI Long March

Описание: Islamabad has been placed under a major security lockdown ahead of the expected PTI long march. Authorities have sealed all five major routes leading into the capital’s Red Zone with two layers of shipping containers, while the extended Red Zone remains closed with access permitted only for emergencies.

More than 1,500 containers have been sought for deployment at the Red Zone, High Security Zone, and major entry and exit points. A heavy police presence is guarding the blocked routes, with over 25,000 personnel from provincial forces expected to be deployed. All police leave has been suspended until October 5, 2026.

These precautions are being taken to protect the capital city from the expected long march by the opposition party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The move has also caused major disruption, with transporters reporting millions in losses and essential medicines reportedly stranded in detained containers. The Islamabad High Court has ruled that political parties cannot indefinitely block public roads, highways, or government buildings.
