If Alice’s previous offering, “lal'khysqhulqhah”, was a whispered incantation of pastel introspection, “Sayaka” is a sudden exhalation of fractured stars, an act of sonic self-sabotage executed with exquisite taste.

Here, the delicate embroidery of chiptune and electronica, once woven into tender dreamscapes, is now scattered and rewoven into a tapestry laced with venom and velvet. The EP opens with a brutal, delirious invocation, a shriek into the void where blackened death metal storms forth not as homage, but as an aberration, splintered and unrepentant. Twisted guitar runs, basslines that crawl like iron roots through scorched soil, and synths that flicker like dying satellites clash beneath Alice’s tempestuous command. Yet, even amid this chaos, piano and chip interludes surface briefly, like frost blooming on scorched glass in a world of sonic experimentalism.

As the second track emerges, the violence retreats, leaving behind a hushed pastoral stillness. “Sayaka” is not for the faint of heart or hearing, it is an experimental constellation that may appear scattered to some, yet for those who dare to retrace its stars, a secret shape emerges, one of sorrow and serenity entwined, of dissonance as a devotional mantra. It is perhaps Alice's most panoramic and uncompromising work to date, not by force but through breadth of spirit.

The listener is invited not to consume, but to wander barefoot through hail and hymn, through razor storms and lullabies.
