MB National Marine Sanctuary Celebrates 30 Years

Описание: The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary is celebrating its 30th anniversary this month. Creating it was a 10-year, hard-fought battle by locals which almost didn't happen. In this interview with Deputy Superintentent Dawn Hayes and Research Ecologist, Andrew Devogelaere, we hear about the challenges, successes, and scientific discoveries that have marked the sanctuary's thirty year history and what might lie ahead for its natural and human inhabitants.

Sanctuary Fest: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. celebrating our 30th anniversary, as well as the 50th anniversary (https://sanctuaries.noaa.gov/50/) of NOAA’s National Marine Sanctuary System along the Santa Cruz Wharf, Cowell Beach, and at the Exploration Center (https://montereybay.noaa.gov/vc/sec/w...) . Alongside our partners Pu Pu ’O Hawai’i Outrigger Canoe Club (https://www.pupuohawaii.org/events.html) , experience the annual Aloha Races starting off the wharf at 9:00 a.m, and beginning at 10:00 a.m., enjoy numerous family-friendly activities including scavenger hunts, exhibitor fair, ocean recreation, and guided wildlife tours. The Exploration Center will host art and science activities, and feature short ocean films.
