When the east wind blows,
flourish in full bloom,
you plum blossoms!
Even though you lose your master
don't be oblivious to spring.
This is a poem by Sugiwara no Michizane, an iconic figure related to the plum blossoms. He is enshrined in Tajihayahimejinja Shrine, in Kozen Park. In this park we can also admire a large variety of plum blossoms. There are approximately 1,200 treed of 50 varieties. This park is located in the south of Osaka, in Sakai. This is the area where we live with my husband and we want to share with you some of the local culture and history about this area.
