Another small project of multiphase simulation to simulate sloshing of water with and without baffles.
The simulation exhibits the scenario of motion of water inside a container due to the oscillation motion and the simulation is recreated with the baffles to reduce the pressure exerted on the walls of the container.
The average and maximum pressure exerted on the walls are plotted in time. Decrease of pressure due to baffles can be noticed in the plot.
To simulate the case, the following software was used:
Salome: for modelling of baffles.
OpenFoam (snappyHexMesh, InterFoam): generation of the mesh and solver.
ParaView: for post-processing of the results
Standard K-ε was used for turbulence modeling with wall functions. For the interface tracking, VOF method was used and dynamic mesh refinement was used to capture the interphase with higher resolution. The dynamic solid mesh oscillation motion was simulated to generate to and fro motion of the container.
For postprocessing, paraview was using with the ray tracking and PBR light interpolation to obtain a realistic surface representation.
