Saturday 20th December saw a somewhat somber occasion as BR Class 52 No.D1015 'Western Champion' hauled the final Pathfinder Railtours farewell tour titled 'The Pathfinder Farewell', marking the end of Pathfinder Railtours after 52 years.
Originating in Salisbury, the tour would run via Westbury and Bath to Gloucester where D1015 would join the train for the run to Manchester, joining the Cross City Line at Bromsgrove for the stiff climb up the famous Lickey Incline into Birmingham before running via Tame bridge Parkway, before briefly joining the West Coast Mainline at Stafford, the tour would then see D1015 pass beneath the impressive station roof at Stoke-on-Trent for the final leg of the journey to Manchester Victoria.
We kick things off at Bromsgrove where D1015 makes its self known as she roars through the station preparing to attack the stiff 1 in 37 gradient of Lickey Incline. Our second and final shot takes us to the North end of Stoke-on-Trent station where we capture D1015 as she emerges from beneath the station roof.
