Vehicle safety has improved markedly over the decades, but in the past few years there has been a significant step-change in safety performance through industry development and market penetration of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) – technologies which assist a driver in avoiding or minimising the effects of a crash.
The Australian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) SAFETY has been testing of ADAS technologies through its routine safety rating process since 2018 with two of the key technologies assessed being Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Support Systems (LSS).
