Maddur town in Mandya district remains tense following a stone-pelting incident during Ganesh idol immersion on Sunday evening. Today, the town observes a complete bandh, with police enforcing prohibitory orders and stepping up security.
26 individuals have been implicated — 22 arrested and 4 absconding. CCTV footage is under review.
A BJP delegation, led by Karnataka State President B.Y. Vijayendra, is meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding a high-level probe. Right-wing groups have warned of statewide protests if action isn’t taken, while a BJP team is visiting Maddur to assess the situation.
