'Disgraceful': Morrison government ‘trashed convention’ with election day boat reveal

Описание: Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has slammed the Morrison government’s “disgraceful” election day actions in relation to the release of information about a suspected asylum seeker boat.

A damming report by the Secretary of the Department of Home Affairs Michael Pezzullo AO found the Morrison government put pressure on officials to release a statement on the boat as soon as possible.

Mr Albanese said Mr Pezzullo acted “appropriately” against the pressure from the former government.

“This was the final act of the Morrison government and it was one that trashed convention and sought to abuse the relationship with the public service,” he told Sky News Australia.
