(LOCATION; HERRICK LAKE FOREST PRESERVE/WHEATON) I visited Herrick Lake Forest Preserve to test out two (2) different types of insulation methods for hammock camping, to figure out which one I believe will work best for me, during my October 2022 thru hike of the River to River trail. Some important factors being warmth, comfort, ease of application, pack weight and pack savings. It was pretty close, but I figured out which option I am more likely to choose from the two insulation types. Which do you think makes a better insulation method? Sleeping pad or under quilt? Comment below.
I'll add more information on the two (2) types of insulation I used in this video as well as more information on my hammock and other items.
