🎯 ADAM PETERS' APPROACH
Added 5-6 defensive starters. Defense now built in Daronte Jones' IMAGE. Youthful players on long-term deals, older vets on one-year deals. Smart, disciplined, sustainable roster building.
❌ THE MISSES
Tyler Linderbaum: Still a headscratcher. Center position remains a need.
Alec Pierce & Romeo Doubs: Swung big but didn't connect. WR depth still thin.
Corner Depth: Need more bodies behind Robertson and Sainristil.
✅ THE HITS
Defense transformed with elite athletes fitting Jones' scheme. Chig Okonkwo was Grant's #1 TE target - breakout incoming. Still have $60M+ for Jayden's extension AND space to add another star next year.
🔒 AMIK ROBERTSON (2YR/$16M)
Liked the tape. Insurance at nickel, more comfortable over the middle, more athletic. Should let Sainristil play outside where he's looked better. Size concerns still scary.
💪 ODAFE OWEH (4YR/$100M)
LOVE this guy. Young, athletic, 13-14 sack potential. System sets up single-blocking on backside - he should dominate.
🎯 LEO CHENAL (3YR/$25M)
His wires are crossed (complimentary for LB). Strong as an ox - favorite clip is splitting double team and making tackle. Can blitz, cover, occupy blockers, play run. KC fans miss him. Could become a SUPERSTAR.
🛡️ TIM SETTLE (3YR/$24M)
Needed a nose, he delivers (still need another). Occupies double teams, recent juice as pass-rusher. Not overly disruptive but doesn't need to be. Great locker room guy.
🏃 K'LAVON CHAISSON (1YR/$12M)
Smart upside signing. One year for 27-year-old former 1st-rounder coming off best season. Passing downs specialist, versatility to drop or rush. Dominated for Pats in playoffs, confident.
🔥 NICK CROSS (2YR/$14M)
Him and Chenal might be MOST EXCITING based on tactical deployment. One of best safeties in NFL at stopping run. Lives in the box. Incredible range (4.34 forty), can blitz or spy. Washington fan comes home.
🎲 CHARLES OMENIHU (1YR/$4M)
Chiefs Super Bowl vet. Real versatility - can play 3, 4i (expect him most here), 5, and 9. Said he can drop if asked. Real size to turn back run.
🏈 CHIG OKONKWO (3YR/$27M)
LOVE THIS GUY. Gets to run real routes. Ben Johnson offenses use TEs everywhere, especially middle of field. Elite YAC ability.
💰 STILL $60M+ IN CAP SPACE
Room for Jayden's extension AND flexibility to add another star next year or make moves now.
⏰ BOTTOM LINE
The hits far outweigh the misses. Peters transformed the defense with young, athletic playmakers who fit Daronte Jones perfectly. Okonkwo gives Jayden a weapon. Missed on some big names but didn't panic or overpay. The Linderbaum miss at center is the biggest headscratcher. Still need corner depth and more offensive weapons.
