forward to immense wealth and power. The Shah
sees in the swollen value of oil the chance to
encourage investment in his country and so lessen its
dependence on oil sales. He is carrying through a
series of major industrial, agricultural and social
reforms. He is also spending a thousand million
pounds to make his armed services among the
strongest in the Middle East. In this interview, he
describes his plans and reviews Iran's foreign policy.
