The community of Alicedale in the Eastern Cape has been facing years of insufficient water supply.
The Makana municipality has been claiming that New Year's Dam , that supplies this small town has been below 60% since 2022.
This issue has now reached the point where school nutritional programmes are unable to function as there is no water.
Teaching and learning is also affected as the schools are forced to implement shorter learning days.
