U.S Grants India 30-Day Waiver to Buy Russian Oil as Iran War Chokes Global Energy Supply

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called India an essential partner but made clear New Delhi must ramp up purchases of American oil in return. The relief comes at a steep price Russian Urals crude has flipped from a $13 discount to a $4-5 premium over Brent almost overnight. Indian state refiners have already bought around 20 million barrels. Russia says it stands ready to meet India's energy needs, but Washington is watching every barrel and has warned it will not repeat the trade miscalculations it made with China.
