Effectrode Phaseomatic Deluxe: Full Feature Overview

Today folks, I've got a treat for you...this is the wonderful Phaseomatic Deluxe from Phil Taylor of Effectrode. I've been a huge fan of Phil's pedals for many years, and it's always a joy to check out anything he's put his hands to! In its most simple form, the Phaseomatic Deluxe is a 100% tube-driven 4-stage phaser. Sounds simple, right? But the level of tweakability under the hood of this beast is phenomenal.

To start...you can choose between 48 different LFO waveforms (that's right...48!) ranging from traditional symmetrical phaser sine sweeps all the way through to crazy, lopsided sci-fi stuttery effects. You have three levels of control over the amount of feedback in the circuit for a trio of distinctly different voices. You can have it modulating super-fast, all the way down to 2-minute long sweeps and even static filtering effects. You can blend between your dry signal, through 50% dry/wet for very resonant 'traditional' phasing sounds, all the way to 100% wet modulation for a warm, throbby vibrato sound.

But that's not all...!! By holding down the Tap/Sync switch (yep, it has tap tempo too...!) the knobs take on secondary functions. This pedal has two LFOs working together to create the 4-stage phasing...but you can split these into two pairs, and select whether you want them working together, at 180° to each other (essentially, a 'traditional' 2-stage phaser sound), or anywhere in between for different rhythms. Oh, and you can choose sub-divisions between the two LFOs for the tap tempo - from quarter-notes, to triplets, to dotted 8ths...they're all in there!

BUT THEN, you can also remove a jumper connecter on the back of the circuit board, which lets you run the two LFOs 'un-synced'...giving you two fully-configurable 2-stage phaser pedals in one. You can have one running slow and wide; the other fast and narrow. Or anything else that could possibly take your fancy.

Add expression-pedal functionality and the ability to receive exact tempo information, and you really do have the phaser pedal to end all phaser pedals! It can do - literally - anything you want it to. It can be a simple, 4-stage lush sounding phaser if you want; but can be a fully tweakable, controllable swoosh monster if you want it too as well. Just take your pick!!
