One moonless night, the nurse received a request to retrieve supplies from the hospital's basement. As she stepped into the elevator, she noticed a solitary patient inside, seemingly lost in her thoughts. Patients were occasionally allowed to wander the halls for fresh air, especially those confined for extended periods. However, they were expected to return to their rooms before the stroke of ten.

The nurse offered a polite smile before pressing the button for the basement. It struck her as odd that the patient hadn't already selected her floor. Could she be headed to the basement as well?

The elevator descended, its doors opening onto the dimly lit basement level. In the distance, a figure limped toward the elevator, prompting the nurse to hastily jab the button for the doors to close. As they did, a surge of panic gripped her, her heart pounding in her chest.

"Why did you do that? He needed to use the lift," the patient remarked, her voice tinged with irritation.

"Did you see his wrist?" the nurse asked breathlessly. "It was red. He passed away last night. I'd remember; I was present during his final moments."

The patient calmly lifted her wrist, revealing a crimson band. She grinned, sending shivers down the nurse's spine. "Like this one?"
