BMW Group is officially deploying humanoid robots inside its German production plant, marking a major shift in automotive manufacturing. This is not a concept. It is happening now at the Leipzig factory.
BMW is integrating advanced humanoid robots into real assembly operations, including component handling and high voltage battery production. These two legged machines are part of the company’s Physical Artificial Intelligence strategy, combining robotics, automation, and smart factory technology. The goal is to improve efficiency, reduce worker strain, and modernize production without replacing human employees. With pilot testing beginning in 2025 and expanding through 2026, this could redefine how car factories operate worldwide.
