Описание: Nam-Kur is a two-part ritual music work inspired by ancient Mesopotamian mythology, reconstructed from fragmented Akkadian tablets and Sumerian hymn traditions.

This video presents a poetic retelling of the myth known today as “The Myth of Nergal and Ereshkigal,” preserved across multiple Akkadian tablet fragments discovered in sites such as Amarna, Sultantepe, and Nineveh. Rather than quoting a single surviving tablet, this work re-imagines the mythic cycle as a continuous ritual narrative.

Part I — Ne-er-gal u E-reš-ki-gal – Kur Nam-lugal

The first section follows Nergal, god of fire, war, and plague, as he descends into Kur, the Mesopotamian underworld, where he confronts Ereshkigal, queen of death and silence.
Their encounter is not a tale of romance, but of power, inevitability, and forced balance — a union that establishes kingship over the realm of the dead.

Part II — I-zi · Kur · Iti — Nam-ĝar-ra

The second section expands the narrative into a cosmic cycle.
Here, Nanna (Sin), the moon god, does not intervene through force, but through rhythm, time, and return.
Fire destroys, the underworld holds, and the moon restores order — forming the cycle that makes renewal possible.

Mythological Context

Nergal & Ereshkigal are drawn from Akkadian mythological tablets traditionally grouped under “Nergal and Ereshkigal.”

Nanna (Sin) is inspired by Sumerian hymns portraying him as the regulator of time, night, and cosmic order.

This work is not a literal transcription of a single tablet, but a faithful poetic reconstruction of Mesopotamian cosmology, expressed through ritual sound and narrative atmosphere.
