Not that I'm against giving a private lesson to a preschooler but what I often tell parents when it comes to a three year old is that they are throwing away their money. A kiddo will definitely get something out of a ski lesson but not any more than they would playing in the snow with mom or dad.
Depending on their personality, most three-year-olds do not want to be separated from their parents and even if they are used to it (ie both parents work and they are left in daycare or with nannies), you are taking them out of their comfort zone with the gear, the clothes, the snow and the environment. Skiing at this young age is all about having fun and not scarring them so that future ski trips carry some sort of PTSD. We can also mention here that if your child is still taking naps or shy on sleep, food, energy, etc., they will be good for maybe three runs before meltdown ensues.
When I taught Fawns and Bambis at Deer Valley, the built-in program was to take the child out for an hour then go back into daycare for most of the day and then out again for another hour in the afternoon. Is that worth $400? A babysitter costs a lot less; even in Park City. A private lesson, btw, will set you back $1100.
I decided I would make a video to show you how you can spend quality time with your child and get them ready for official lessons when they are a little older.
In this video you will see my daughter NOT wearing a helmet or goggles. Pick your battles. If you are just on the magic carpet and your child not having it, it is ok to forego some of the gear. But here is why it's important to have a proper fitting helmet-

Many thanks to Lauren Barfield and her adorable daughter for allowing me to make this video with them.
