Boeing Dreamliner Fuel Switch Probe: India Monitors Key Seattle Tests | ON Point

Описание: The spotlight is once again on Boeing’s Dreamliner fuel-control switches, following renewed safety concerns linked to a past tragedy involving Air India aircraft.

According to reports, Indian aviation safety officials are set to travel to Seattle to closely monitor Boeing’s testing of a fuel-switch module removed from an Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner earlier this year. The module was taken out after pilots on a London–Bengaluru flight reported irregular behavior during engine start-up, raising concerns that the switches did not consistently remain locked in the “run” position.

This issue has gained significance because preliminary findings in last year’s Air India crash in Gujarat suggested that both fuel-control switches may have moved almost simultaneously, leading to a catastrophic loss of engine power.

While Boeing and Air India maintain that the system later passed inspections, India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has insisted on additional supervised testing in the United States. The outcome of these tests could prove crucial as the final crash investigation report is awaited.
