In this episode, we explore some of the best and worst decisions made by collectors and the comic industry of the 90s.
First we discuss how the industry evolved in the decades preceding the 90s and how Paper Drives made pre WWII Comics a rare and endangered species.
Next, in the early 90s, investors and speculators started seeing the value of old comic books, so they started buying up comic books thinking they would sell them for thousands or even millions of dollars years from now and put their kids though college.
This is part of what lead to the great comics crash of the 90s, but the comics industry also contributed by overproducing comics, selling variants, relaunching, and oversaturating "major" events in comics, i.e., the Death of Superman.
Also we explore the birth of Image Comics and discuss some of the decisions those guys made that contributed to the crash.
Next we play a game of Stump the Old Man with Thor, the Dog of Thunder!
