Jeremy Bagshaw, a solo sailor from South Africa, competed in the 2022 McIntyre Golden Globe Race — a round-the-world challenge using only technology available in 1968.

Sailing the smallest boat in the fleet, his OE32 Olleanna, Jeremy faced relentless obstacles: barnacle growth slowing his progress, scarce food and water supplies, and gear failures along the way.

Midway through the race, he was forced to make a stop in Hobart, Tasmania to clean his hull, which placed him in the Chichester Class for one-stop circumnavigators. But he pressed on undeterred, battling storms and isolation across the oceans.

On 9 June 2023, after 277 days at sea, Jeremy crossed the finish line in Les Sables-d’Olonne — the fifth and final skipper to complete the Golden Globe Race 2022.
