The logs reveal that the wind wasn't blowing down from the mountains; it was flowing up toward the ridge, as if something on the peak was inhaling the heat from the world below.

But the true horror lies in the recovery. When military teams finally cut through the ice, they found the station intact but entombed. The crew wasn't scattered or hiding. They were found in the operations room, sitting in a perfect circle, holding hands. They had realized that the cold wasn't just weather—it was a presence they had woken up with seismic testing. They held hands so the last thing they felt would be human warmth, not the ancient, hungry winter that had come to take them.
