Today on our 2010 Toyota Prius, we'll be taking a look at and installing the CURT T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4- Pole Flat Connector, part number C56147. First thing we'll need to do in installing our wiring harness is open up the rear hatch. Once you have the rear hatch open, go ahead and remove all the floor coverings and plastics, all the way down to the floor of the vehicle. Now we'll go ahead and remove the rubber seal here, just pull it back, so we can remove the threshold located at the back to run our wires across. Now we'll go ahead and remove the two covers located here, to get access to our vehicle wiring harness. Pull down on the tab, and out to remove. We'll set those up there.
As you can see, you'll now be able to see the backside of the lights. Locate the vehicle's wiring harness, which is going to be that white one located right here. Go ahead and pull out on that, grab the black side with the wire cover over the top, depress the indent here, and pull out. It's also a good idea to remove this panel down her eon the bottom side, and pull of the wires. That way you aren't forced to shove the bigger wires down through this hole. Once you have them around to where you can grab them, we'll feed them through, and make our connections. Take the factory wiring harness, plug it in, and the other end of it just like so.
Plugging that back in to the well there, and tucking the other part of the wire around to the side. Now we'll go ahead and pull our ground up, and make that connection as well. Now we'll go ahead and take our self-tapper, that's included in our hardware kit, and connect our ground wire to the doubled-up sheet metal located here at the back. Now we'll go ahead and take our double-sided tape and place it to the back of the control module, which is going to be the black box that's attached to your wires. Press it on firmly, and then pull off the double-sided tape. Find a flat surface in your vehicle to mount it.
Press it down and hold it firmly. Once it's secure, we'll be able to tuck our wires back behind and start running our wires back over to the driver's side, as well as our 4-pole. We're going to go ahead and replace our factory appearance panels on the passenger side, since we're done over here at this point. Now we'll take one of our included zip-ties, and zip-tie our wires right up underneath the bottom side of this panel that's already here, making sure that it's not close to the latch. Once we have it zip-tied up there, we'll also zip-tie it back here at this point, and make sure that it's nice and clean. Now we'll go ahead and fold our 4-pole down towards our spare tire, because this is where our 4-pole is going to sit when it's not in use. When you decide to use it, you're going to pull it out and over the top of the weather seal here, and down to your trailer.
When you don't have any use, roll it up and you can place it in your spare tower. Now we'll go ahead and finish stretching out our wires over to the driver's side. Go ahead and run up that t-connector with the yellow side up and behind, just as we did on the passenger side. Pull it through, and then we'll secure our yellow wire with a few more zip-ties along with way. Cut out the excess parts of the zip-ties, and fold them around so they're not a hindrance when place our threshold back on. Locate the white module here on the driver's side. Pull out, until it's released, then depress the tab and pull out. Disconnect it, then reconnect the t-connector into the appropriate slots that fits it. Take the manufacturer one, plug it into the bigger one, and on the other side, the male into the female. Once you've done so, go ahead and fold it back around and into place. Replace the appearance panel on the driver's side. Now go ahead and hook up the battery. Go ahead and pull up the positive cap on the battery, that's located on the passenger side rear of the trunk area. Locate the 10mm bolt and loosen it up. Remember to always use hand tools when dealing with the battery. And then place on the ring terminal for the positive side. Reattach the nut, and secure it down tightly. Once you have a nice tight connection, go ahead and close down the cap, and then we'll place in our fuse in the fuse container here. Close the cover, and we'll go ahead and take a zip-tie and wrap it around it, to make sure that it stays secure. Go through the hole on the bottom side,
