Developed in the late 1800s by Edward William Barton-Wright, Bartitsu was the first true hybrid martial art, blending Japanese Jujutsu, Western Boxing, French Savate, and Cane Fighting into a system designed to help Victorian gentlemen survive London’s dangerous streets. But how does it compare to modern self-defence techniques like MMA, Krav Maga, or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
