Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where in todays video I wanted tot all to you about Kojic Acid and why I think its the best OTC treatment for hyperpigmentation, melasma and skin discolouration.

Kojic acid is one of the unsung heroes in skincare which is often overlooked in favour of some of the more popular acids such as azelaic acid, tranexamic acid or lactic acid. It is however a powerful pigment corrector which can brighten the skin, fade hyperpigmentation and even the complexion.

Kojic acid is naturally found in fungi and also as a byproduct of fermentation, it prohibits the formation of pigment in the skin which over time will reduce dark spots and discolouration and even out the skin tone.

Other than kojic acid fro skin brightening, this ingredient is also a powerful antioxidant and has been clinically proven to reduce acne in the skin too.

In this video I want to share with you my kojic acid before and after results and also the pros and cons of using this ingredient in your own skincare routine. Finally I will share the best kojic acid serums on the market if you would like to include it in your own skin care routine.

NOTE - many people will recommend kojic acid soap, this is not something I have personally tried but my preference is for a product with a known percentage and recommended amount which is not something you can get from a soap bar application.
