SYNOPSIS:
In the turbulent Ozark Mountains of Taney County, Missouri during the 1880s, widespread lawlessness and crime prevail in the chaotic aftermath of the Civil War. With little justice available and countless murders going unpunished, a group of local men forms a vigilante organization known as the Baldknobbers — named for the bare “bald knob” hills where they meet.
Driven by a desire to protect their communities from bushwhackers, murderers, and thieves, the Baldknobbers ride across the region on horseback, enforcing their own version of law and order. The film follows their struggles, conflicts, and moral dilemmas as they confront both criminal elements and the consequences of taking justice into their own hands.
