The super x appears to stop godzilla in japan. This is the first of the heisei godzilla films series, and the series would continue until the 1995 film godzilla vs destoroyah, but the godzilla films from 1989 godzilla vs biollante, godzilla vs king ghidorah, godzilla vs mothra, godzilla vs mechagodzilla 2, godzilla vs spacegodzilla, and finally godzilla vs destoroyah was done by different people than godzilla 1984, and the tone of the film and designs can be obviously seen the difference in them.
This film was the next film after the showa era films series ended with terror of mechagodzilla and it revived the godzilla franchise and is the reason why the millenium godzilla films series started and why shin godzilla or the legendary monsterverse godzilla films were made.
Godzilla 1984 also introduced the idea of godzilla absorbing radiation or nuclear power, and also a more laser like atomic breath.
