বাংলাদেশের অর্থবছরের হিসাব বদলে যাচ্ছে। বর্তমানে ১ জুলাই থেকে ৩০ জুন পর্যন্ত অর্থবছর চললেও নতুন সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী ২০২৮-২৯ অর্থবছর থেকে এটি হবে ১ এপ্রিল থেকে ৩১ মার্চ। তবে পরিবর্তনের আগে ২০২৭-২৮ অর্থবছর হবে নয় মাসের একটি অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন অর্থবছর—জুলাই থেকে মার্চ পর্যন্ত।

সরকারের যুক্তি, জুলাই-আগস্টে বর্ষার কারণে উন্নয়ন প্রকল্পের কাজ ধীর হয়ে যায়, বাড়ে সময় ও ব্যয় এবং ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয় কাজের মান। এপ্রিল-মার্চ অর্থবছর হলে বর্ষার আগেই উন্নয়নকাজ শেষ করার সুযোগ তৈরি হবে।

Bangladesh is set to change its fiscal year cycle from July-June to April-March. Under the new arrangement, the fiscal year will run from April 1 to March 31, starting from FY2028-29. FY2027-28 will serve as a nine-month transitional fiscal year from July to March.

The government says the change will help complete infrastructure development projects before the monsoon, reducing delays, cost overruns and quality concerns. The shift will also require legal and technological adjustments to Bangladesh’s financial management systems.
